Out of the Park Baseball
Out of the Park Baseball, abbreviated as OOTP, is a text-based baseball simulation for career, historical, and fictional play. OOTP was originally written in 1998, when lead developer Markus Heinsohn sought to combine realistic replay baseball simulation with career play to satisfy hardcore fans and casual gamers alike. "A friend of mine brought home a bat and a glove from a trip to Miami, so we started hitting tennis balls into the neighbor’s gardens. That was in 1991," Heinsohn told Inside Mac Games in a July 2012 interview. "We then formed a baseball club and started playing in organized baseball leagues in 1994. In the meantime I played all sorts of baseball computer games, but there was no management-related game that I liked, so in 1998 I decided to simply develop my own game, just for fun. When it was done in 1999, I figured it was probably good enough to earn some money with it, and that’s when it all started."

Great Sluggers '94
Great Sluggers '94 (グレートスラッガーズ'94, Gurēto Suraggāzu Naintī Fō?) is a baseball arcade game that had been released by Namco in June 1994; it runs on the company's NB-1 hardware, and as the name suggests, it is the sequel to Great Sluggers (which was released exclusively in Japan the year before). However, instead of the twelve teams of Japan's Central and Pacific Leagues, the players must take control of two of the twenty-eight teams of the American League and National League - and there are two teams for both Chicago and New York. Unlike in the original, this game's teams do not have mascots (which were first featured in Super World Stadium '92) so the "FAVOR" screens that appear in the game's attract sequence will display two pictures of the teams' star players with their batting averages and home run counts; there are also only two stadiums to choose from ("Traditional" and "Modern"), which are based on the Kōshien (which had been renamed to "Urban" for the original Great Sluggers) and Kaihei Dome Stadiums, from the World Stadium series, and the original Great Sluggers respectively. The "Modern" Stadium also replaces the advertisement for the Japan-exclusive quiz game of Net-to! Geki-to! Quiz-to!! from the original Great Sluggers with one for Dragon Buster, but the advertisement for the puzzle game Emeraldia, which was also Japan-only, remains - and an advertisement for Super World Stadium, that misspells the last word as "Studium" (a case of "Engrish"), was also added. Both Great Sluggers games were also the basis for the NB-1 era (1995-1997) of the World Stadium series, where the Hillside and Kaihei Dome Stadium of the original (and their adverts!) reappeared.

Great Sluggers
Great Sluggers (グレートスラッガーズ, Gurēto Suraggāzu?), the full Japanese name: Great Sluggers: New World Stadium (グレートスラッガーズ: ニューワールドスタジアム, Gurēto Suraggāzu: Nyū Wārudo Sutajiamu?), is a baseball arcade game that was released by Namco in 1993, only in Japan; it was the first game to run upon the company's then-new NB-1 hardware, and the gameplay is largely similar to the System 2 era (1991-1993) of their own World Stadium series as both players must take control of two of twelve real-life Japanese baseball teams in the Central and Pacific Leagues, then select one of four stadiums for the match to take place in (two of which, the Dome and Kōshien, had been carried over from that World Stadium series, but the latter has been renamed to "Urban", and the other two, the Hillside and Kaihei Dome, were created specifically for this game). All four also feature advertisements for the older titles of Starblade, Pac-Man, Mappy, Pac-Land, Dig Dug, Net-tō! Geki-tō! Quiz-tō!!, Final Lap, Emeraldia, Numan Athletics and Namco's then-existent "Wonder Eggs" theme park in Tokyo (which closed down in 2000) - and like Super World Stadium '92 Gekitōban and Super World Stadium '93 Gekitōhen, there was also a "FAVOR" setting in the options menu which allowed arcade operators to show their support for their local baseball team during the title's attract sequence. A sequel named Great Sluggers '94 was released the following year, but in the United States; it plays like an "Americanized" version of both the World Stadium series and its predecessor and has twenty-eight teams for both players to choose from, but it only has two stadiums for the match to take place in ("Traditional" and "Modern", and the latter is the Kaihei Dome stadium from this title). It also replaces the advertisement for Net-tō! Geki-tō! Quiz-tō!! with one for Dragon Buster, as it was not Japan-exclusive.

Early mainframe games
Mainframe computers are computers used primarily by businesses and academic institutions for large-scale, multi-user processes. Before personal computers, first termed microcomputers, became widely available to the general public in the early 1970s, the computing industry was made up of mainframe computers and their relatively smaller and cheaper minicomputer variant. During the mid to late 1960s, many early video games were programmed on these computers. Developed prior to the rise of the commercial video game industry, also in the early 1970s, these early mainframe games were generally written by students or employees at large corporations, and generally only for the specific machine or computer type they were developed on. While most of these games were lost as the original computer or computer type was discontinued, some of them were ported to general computer languages like BASIC, had expanded versions later released for personal computers, or were recreated for bulletin board systems years later, and thus had an impact on future games and developers.

Baseball (Intellivision video game)
Baseball (released as Major League Baseball) is a multiplayer sports video game produced by Mattel and released for its Intellivision video game system in 1980. The best-selling title in the console's history, with over 1 million copies sold, Baseball put players in control of a nine-man baseball team competing in a standard nine-inning game. When first released, Mattel obtained a license from Major League Baseball, although the only trademarked item used was the MLB logo on the game's box art. No official team names or player names were used in the game.

Baseball (Japanese: ベースボール, Hepburn: Bēsubōru?) is a 1983 video game from Nintendo, one of the first early titles for the Family Computer. In 1985, the game was featured prominently amongst the 18 titles at the Manhattan test market launch of the Nintendo Entertainment System, being demonstrated on a large projector screen by real Major League Baseball players. The game's launch position and the universal appeal of its namesake sport are said to have made Baseball a key to the NES's overall success, and an important piece of Nintendo history.
