Pfotenhauer was Koch Industries chief in-house lobbyist from 1996 to 2001. Her lobbying efforts were focused on gas pipelines. In 2001, Nancy Pfotenhauer left Koch Industries to become the president of the Independent Women's Forum, a conservative research group that receives funding from Koch Industries.
