Badgers are mustelids, with four living genera living in different areas of the world. The American badger, Taxidea taxus, is the only badger in the New World; other species like the Hog Badger, European badger and Honey Badger live in Africa and Eurasia.

They have very thick (about 1/4 inches), rubbery skin, which is so tough that it's been shown to be nearly impervious to traditionally made arrows and spears.
