Maryland
The University of Maryland women's basketball team is a prominent program in the history of women's basketball. A founding member of the Atlantic Coast Conference, the Lady Terrapins joined the Big Ten Conference July 1, 2014. Since 2002, team has been led by head coach Brenda Frese. In 2006, with only four years under Frese, the Lady Terps won their first NCAA Championship in their fourth trip to the Final Four - their first Final Four appearance since 1989.

Purdue
The Purdue Boilermakers women's basketball team is a college basketball program that competes in NCAA Division I and the Big Ten Conference. Purdue is rich in tradition and history, holding the record for Big Ten Championships, along with being the only program in the conference to boast winning records versus every other school in the Big Ten. The Boilermakers have appeared in the NCAA Final Four three times, and won the NCAA National Championship in 1999. The Boilermakers share a classic rivalry with the Indiana Hoosiers, of which Purdue owns a 40-23 series lead.
