Chattanooga
Jim Foster was named the fifth varsity women's basketball coach for the University of Tennessee at Chattanoga on May 9, 2013. Shortly after taking the job, Foster was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame.

East Tennessee State
ETSU has also had success with their women's basketball program going to the NCAA Women's Division I Basketball Championships in 2008, 2009, and 2010. Besides appearing in the NCAA Women's Division I Basketball Championship three times, they have also appeared Women's National Invitation Tournament three times with their most recent appearance coming in 2015. Overall the women's program has 543-597 record.

Wendy Palmer, an 11-year WNBA veteran and former All-American at Virginia under Women's Basketball Hall of Fame coach Debbie Ryan, is set to begin her fourth season at the helm of the UNCG women's basketball program. Palmer, who was named head coach on April 19, 2011, replaced longtime UNCG coach Lynne Agee, who retired in March 2011 after 30 years at the helm for the Spartans.
