News - Six clubs to participate in South American Women's Club Championship - FIVB
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, February 14, 2016 - The South American Volleyball Confederation has confirmed the teams participating in the South American Women's Club Championship, which will take place in the city of La Plata, Argentina starting next February 24. Six teams will play with the winners qualifying for the FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship.

San Carlos de Bariloche, Argentina, January 5, 2016 - The Pedro Estremador Gym in San Carlos de Bariloche will host the South American Women's Olympic Qualification Tournament from Wednesday to Sunday. The teams have arrived, the preliminary meetings have taken place and the opening match between Colombia and Venezuela is due to begin at 15.00 local time.

The Peru women's national volleyball team is the national team of Peru. The team was one of the dominant forces in women's volleyball in the 1980s, culminating in the silver medal won at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea. The Peru men's national volleyball team is the national team of Peru. The squad won the bronze medal at the inaugural 1951 South American Championship in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Peru women is one of the dominant forces in the continent, however the dominant forces in men's volleyball on the South American continent are Brazil and Argentina.

The Venezuela men's national volleyball team represents Venezuela in international volleyball competitions and friendly matches. In 1962 the squad claimed its first international medal (a bronze) at the South American Championship. The Venezuela women's national volleyball team is the national team of Venezuela. The dominant forces in women's volleyball on the South American continent are Brazil, Peru and Argentina. The team's highest achievement was during the 2008 South American Olympic Qualification Tournament, defeating Peru in the finals and becoming the only South American team other than Brazil and Peru to compete at the Olympics.
