Clemente, Roberto | Baseball Hall of Fame
en Español"He played a kind of baseball that none of us had ever seen before… As if it were a form of punishment for everyone else on the field." - Roger AngellThe numbers he assembled over 18 big league seasons tell the story of a complete ballplayer. The story of Roberto Clemente, however, goes beyond mere numbers.

Roberto Clemente | Society for American Baseball Research
Roberto Clemente's greatness transcended the diamond. On it, he was electrifying with his penchant for bad-ball hitting, his strong throwing arm from right field, and the way he played with a reckless but controlled abandon. Off it, he was a role model to the people of his homeland and elsewhere. Helping others represented the way Clemente lived. It would also represent the way he died.

Roberto Clemente - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Roberto Enrique Clemente Walker[a] (Spanish pronunciation: [ro??e?to en?rike kle?mente (g)wal?ke?]; August 18, 1934 – December 31, 1972) was a Puerto Rican professional baseball player. Clemente spent 18 Major League Baseball (MLB) seasons playing in the National League (NL) as a right fielder for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1973, becoming the first Latin American and Caribbean player to be enshrined. His untimely death established the precedent that, as an alternative to the five-year retirement period, a player who has been deceased for at least six months is eligible for entry into the Hall of Fame.
