The first step is to back comb your entire head in horizontal sections. This will make sure there are no harsh lines when it's finished. Make sure you leave the layers separated, so you can get in there with the lightener when you're ready.
Now you'll start at the bottom section (clip the rest of the hair on top of your head), and apply the bleach freehand with your color brush. Because we teased the hair, there won't be any harsh lines, it will all blend nicely. Continue around the head, and layer by layer, work your way through all of your hair, focusing mostly on ends and stippling upward.
I'm sure nobody actually needs instructions for putting your hair in a show cap, but theres step three! After you've applied all of your bleach, gently place all of your hair in a show cap. Leave to let process for 30-40min.
Use shimmer lights by clairol or another purple shampoo of your choice. Make sure to get all that bleach rinsed out and give your hair a good conditioning after all that back combing, it's going to be very tangled! Now you're done! Enjoy your beautifuly blended DIY balyage.
