Shane Walsh was Rick's best friend in the show and was also Lori's protector and partner when she believed Rick was dead. He is known for being protective but slightly controlling and also impulsive. When Rick reappears a rivalry forms between him and Shane. The rivalry continues and it ultimately leads to a fight where Shane is shot and killed by Carl.
