The Mills Bomb was a fragmentation grenade used by British forces in World War I. It looks more like a modern grenade than anything else used in WWI. It was possible to fire this grenade as a rifle grenade by using a jam rod attached to the grenade, inserting it in the barrel of the rifle and firing a blank charge. This would definitely be an interesting gameplay mechanic and will probably be very powerful considering the difficulty in using it compared to the modern grenade launchers used in BF4.
This was a flattened disk-like grenade used by Germany in WWI. It had fuses along the outer edge that would cause the grenade to detonate on impact. Perhaps this will be like the RGO Impact Grenade seen in BF4.
This was a large German fragmentation grenade designed to break into 70 to 80 fragments upon detonation. Perhaps due to its long fuse time and size it will be a powerful blast in game though it can not be thrown very far.
The Jam Tin Grenade was exactly what it sounds like, a grenade made out of a tin for jam. This improvised grenade was made using an explosive like dynamite packed in the tin with cotton and linked to a fuse that would be lit and thrown.
The F1 grenade was of French design and would be used as a basis for future hand grenade designs. I hope it is blue in the game just like in the picture in this article, it looks really cool.
The Mk. 1 Hand Grenade was made and used the US for use in WWI. It was meant to be "fool proof" but it faced problems that meant it would be retired before the end of the war. It looks very iconic of what I think of when I see WWII grenades.
The Mk.II hand grenade was only used during the later months of World War I but would see extensive service in World War II. Despite this it might still make it into the game. I think it all depends on how many types of grenades DICE wants to add in and whether or not they can make them meaningfully different.
