The 7 Biggest Trends in Snowsports Gear For 2016/2017 - Teton Gravity Research
Much of what was seen by TGR's staff at Winter OR and SIA represented an evolution of trends that got small starts in the year or two past. Ski companies have had a number of years to play with radical shapes, and are now retreating towards skinner and more normal-looking shapes. Snowboarders, on the other hand, are taking more and more cues from the surf world, dropping wild-looking short, squat shapes with swallowtails all over the place. Elsewhere, gradual improvements in splitboard gear and ski boot design are making the more notoriously painful (for consumers) parts of the hardgoods market less and less so.

Best New Ski Gear - SIA 2016 - Ski Showstopper Gear 2017 - Blizzard, Tecnica, Nordica, Salomon, Rossignol, Dakine, K2 - SKI Magazine
This burly shell takes its inspiration from the company's marine history. Starting with Helly's proprietary Helly Tech 3L face fabric, the Elevation sports a longer length and a relaxed tailored fit designed to work with backpacks. A high-visibility contrast hood, snap-away powder skirt, wrist gaitors with thumb holes, and a helmet-compatible hood make the Elevation a bomber jacket for the hardest-charging of skiers in the most inhospitable of conditions.
