In Major League Baseball (MLB), spring training is a series of practices and exhibition games preceding the start of the regular season. Spring training allows new players to try out for roster and position spots, and gives existing players practice time prior to competitive play.

DAVENPORT — The Polk County visitor center will celebrate baseball's spring training Saturday. The free, family-friendly event will feature prize giveaways and a batting cage and a pitching booth with speed timer. Radio station 97.5 WPCV FM broadcast live from the event, and the center will give away.
