I decided to complete my unit on American Symbols, which is a social studies standard for kindergarten. I had no idea what I wanted to use in my unit. Since this is a "Creativity" class, I needed to be creative, aka ORIGINAL!

I am not always the greatest at doing crafts with my kids, but there are a few holidays that I love doing crafts for. The 4th of July happens to be one of those holidays. I mean, who can resist the beauty of red, white, and blue?

We focused on a facet of Lincoln’s life that was not mentioned in this book, but it made for a great excuse to practice some computer skills- his Log Cabin. While the kids don’t sit on it all day, in this day and age computer skills are becoming a necessity and I like to incorporate them into lessons when appropriate.

I have seen tons of adorable toilet paper roll rockets for the 4th of July but since we have been learning about patriotic symbols the kids wanted to make the Statue of Liberty.

This American Revolutionary War Pack was made for kids 2 to 8. There are activities for the various ages. It covers some of the people from the American Revolution War and a few items as well. This pack was made to help younger kids learn about the war along with the older kids that would be studying it. It has some fun activities for the younger kids and information sheets for older kids to fill out.

We are using Mystery of History Volume 1 as our core history curriculum this year for 3rd grade, kindergarten, and preschool.
