Children's Pool Beach

The original intention was to create a fully protected swimming area, but in recent years sand has filled in much of the area inside the wall. This is a popular beach for scuba divers because of the reefs just offshore. These same reefs can create very strong currents and other hazards, particularly in high surf conditions.

Children’s Pool Beach, aka Casa Beach, is a small beach with a curved protective wall holding back the rough waves along the La Jolla shore. This wall was built in the 1930’s to create a safe swimming beach for kids and families. A couple things have happened since then to make this an undesirable swimming spot.

Originally conceived as a protected swimming area for children, the sea-walled cove began to fill with sand and eventually, harbor seals.

Children's Pool Beach, also known as Casa Beach,[1] is a small sandy beach area located at 850 Coast Boulevard, at the end of Jenner Street, in La Jolla, California. It is not a pool, but has long been called "Children's Pool."
