Making a prequel to one of the greatest sci-fi series in recent years is a tall order. Caprica was a very different animal than Battlestar Galactica, zooming in from the sprawling space epic to create a tightly focused family drama. Like BSG, Caprica explored topics like religion, polygamy and consciousness, perhaps even more effectively.
