Squidward Tentacles

Squidward[2] Q.[3] Tentacles[4] is one of the main characters of SpongeBob SquarePants. He is the neighbor between SpongeBob and Patrick. He is a turquoise-colored octopus, and lives in a house shaped like an Easter Island head.

Also known as Squidward Tennisballs (or Squidward Tortellini), he is the annoyed neighbor of SpongeBob and Patrick. He is seems to only find happiness playing his clarinet.

Squidward is the co-worker and next-door neighbor of SpongeBob SquarePants. He is an octopus, despite his name, and is eternally grumpy.

Squidward Quincy Tentacles is SpongeBob and Patrick's cranky neighbor. His species is ambiguous, and has been called both a squid and octopus by the series creators. Squidward is bald with light green skin, a big nose, plays the clarinet, and lives in an Easter Island head located between SpongeBob's and Patrick's residences. He works as a cashier at The Krusty Krab, a job he despises. SpongeBob and Patrick consider Squidward their friend, but the feeling is not mutual. Squidward's main rival is Squilliam Fancyson, his former band classmate and the richest squid in Bikini Bottom.

"SpongeBob SquarePants" creator Stephen Hillenburg revealed in a 2005 -- yeah, THAT long ago -- video that Bikini Bottom's resident grouch was actually an octopus, not a squid.

Squidward Q. Tentacles is a fictional character voiced by actor Rodger Bumpass in the American animated television sitcom SpongeBob SquarePants. Squidward was created and designed by marine biologist and animator Stephen Hillenburg. He first appeared on television in the series' pilot episode "Help Wanted" on May 1, 1999.
