It’s a tough time to be making great television. If the aughts marked the dawn of the medium’s golden age—when a few ambitious shows, like The Sopranos and Mad Men, reached new aesthetic heights and got big audiences chattering—we now seem on the brink of an upcoming collapse. We’re living in an era of grotesque abundance.
This spin-off from Breaking Bad (created by that show's Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould) is set mostly six years earlier and focuses on Albuquerque lawyer Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk). Jonathan Banks also reprises his role as Mike Ehrmantraut, while newcomers include Michael McKean. It's much more of a drama (with some comedic elements) than originally suggested.
Series 2 of Better Call Saul continues the misdemeanors of Jimmy McGill. His relationship with Kim is taken to the next level as he starts working at Davis and Main, but it's only a matter of time before his true self starts shining through and causing problems.
Season two finds Jimmy McGill a.k.a. Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) with the choice of staying within the law or trying more unethical ways to make more money as his relationship with Kim (Rhea Seehorn) changes.
Jimmy and Kim's law practice and relationship are tested by Chuck's (Michael McKean) con as Mike (Jonathan Banks) tries to find the person who seems to knows a lot about what he is doing.
