List of sled dog races - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The list of sled dog races contains dozens of contests created by supporters of mushing, the sport of racing sled dogs. It is unknown when the first sled dog race was held. Humans have domesticated dogs for thousands of years, and sled dogs have been used for transportation in Arctic areas for almost as long.

At the Eagle Cap Extreme Sled Dog Race, it's Serious Mushing in the Slush
Thirteen dog teams showed up for three races of 200, 100, and 62 miles along the east flank of the Wallowas in northeast Oregon, with mushers coming from as far as Nevada and Canada. The long race got shortened to 152 miles this year because of soft snow and the risks it posed for the dogs, but the long race was still long enough to be an Iditarod qualifying event.
