Galaxies and Power Stars

This walkthrough details how to get all of the power stars.

The Gateway Galaxy is one of the many galaxies from Super Mario Galaxy for the Wii. It serves as the opening level for the game and after Mario clears its first mission, he won't be able to return here until the Gate is unlocked later on in the game. It has the only purple coin mission in the game that can be played before beating Bowser.

Boo's Boneyard Galaxy is a ghost-themed galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy. It is unlocked by feeding the Hungry Luma outside of the Gate 1200 Star Bits.

Good Egg Galaxy (originally known as Egg Planet Galaxy) is the second galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy. It is the first level within the Terrace dome. Good Egg Galaxy is one of the few galaxies with no set theme that continues to be visible throughout the planets.

The Honeyhive Galaxy (also known as the Honeyhive Kingdom and originally as the Honeybee Galaxy) is a galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy. This forest-based galaxy is full of flowers and Honeycomb Wall‎s and is inhabited by friendly bees. The kingdom and its bee subjects are ruled by Queen Bee. The Bee Mushroom debuts here, and Mario learns how to use the Bee Suit here. This is one of the three bee-themed galaxies, the other two being the Honeyclimb Galaxy and Gold Leaf Galaxy.

The Loopdeeloop Galaxy is a galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy, and is located within the Terrace. It is a ? Block before it is unlocked and can only be unlocked after five Power Stars are collected. This galaxy is basically a long flow of water across the sky where Mario plays Manta Ray Surfing. It is inhabited by Penguins, most of whom cheer Mario on from the sidelines. This galaxy does not include any enemies.

The Flipswitch Galaxy is a small galaxy, having only one mission, in the game Super Mario Galaxy. The Galaxy is composed of 18 Flipswitch Panels which Mario must step on. After all of them have been turned yellow, a Power Star appears.

The Sweet Sweet Galaxy, originally known as the Cookie Factory Galaxy[citation needed], is one of the galaxies that Mario traverses in Super Mario Galaxy. It appears after the Hungry Luma next to the Terrace has been fed 400 Star Bits.

Bowser Jr.'s Robot Reactor is Bowser Jr.'s first galaxy in the game Super Mario Galaxy. In it, Mario fights Megaleg to earn a Grand Star.

The Space Junk Galaxy is a galaxy in the game Super Mario Galaxy. Like its name implies, the Space Junk Galaxy contains lots of discarded space junk, including old rocket ships, floating debris, and various other objects and platforms.

The Battlerock Galaxy is a galaxy in the Wii game Super Mario Galaxy. The galaxy contains many floating metallic saucers and planet-sized rocks with Cannons. The Battlerock itself is a huge rock studded with cannons that fire at Mario, and the inside contains many technical contraptions. Many robots and Bob-ombs appear in the galaxy.

The Rolling Green Galaxy is a galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy based around the Star Ball Rolling minigame. In this golf course-like galaxy, Mario balances on a large ball containing a Power Star, and must maneuver the ball through the galaxy until he reaches a hole at the end of the galaxy, that opens the ball, allowing him to get the Star.

Hurry-Scurry Galaxy is a galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy. It features platform tiles that shrink and disappear within a few seconds whenever the player steps on them. There is a planetoid with the Shrinking Tiles and a Black Hole in the center. There are also Rainbow Notes that the player must collect to get the Power Star. The shape of Hurry-Scurry Planet is visually similar to rhombicuboctahedron.

The Sling Pod Galaxy is a galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy. It can be accessed by feeding the Hungry Luma that appears outside the Fountain 400 Star Bits. This galaxy doesn't have any large planets and is almost completely made up of Sling Pods and other obstacles. Mario must climb onto one of the Sling Pods, then launch himself in the direction of the next pod. The obstacles are floating mines that will hurt Mario if he hits them, or cause him to fall into a Black Hole. There are many Star Bits in this level.

Bowser's Star Reactor is a galaxy located in Super Mario Galaxy and the first galaxy where Mario fights Bowser. Before that, he has to travel through a short level. The galaxy has lots of inaccessible Airships floating in the background; these can only be reached by hacking the game, which reveals they are solid. The theme is a remix of Bowser's Road from Super Mario 64.

The Beach Bowl Galaxy is one of the galaxies in Super Mario Galaxy. The galaxy is accessed from a dome called the Kitchen. The largest planet in this galaxy is a beach area filled with Penguins, called a "penguin paradise". The name is a pun on "beach ball".

Ghostly Galaxy is a galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy. Many elements of this area are of a haunted theme, and Mario can find Boo Mushrooms that turn him into a Boo. This galaxy also has the first appearance of Luigi in the game, who is rescued in the process of obtaining the galaxy's first Power Star. After being rescued, Luigi will later discover a few more Power Stars for Mario to collect in other galaxies. Bouldergeist is the boss of this galaxy.

The Bubble Breeze Galaxy is a galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy. This galaxy is a large swamp with a few islands, a few large fans, and Toad Brigade who have crash landed there. This galaxy features Bubble Blowing. There is a total of 145 coins, more than in other galaxies, which is almost enough to earn 3 extra lives.

The Buoy Base Galaxy is a galaxy that appears in Super Mario Galaxy. The galaxy contains a large fortress floating atop a large, semispherical pool of water. Mario has to climb this fortress in order to get the main Power Star in this galaxy.

The Drip Drop Galaxy is a galaxy in the game Super Mario Galaxy. The player must feed a Hungry Luma 600 Star Bits to unlock the galaxy. It is essentially a large planet made almost entirely of water, with a small sandy core and two small floating islands.

Bowser Jr.'s Airship Armada is a Bowser Jr. galaxy found in Super Mario Galaxy. This galaxy consists of a very large group of Airships, including a flagship piloted by Bowser Jr. which Mario must attack and sink. Also, Mario will be attacked by many enemies while trying to get to Bowser Jr. to get the Grand Star.

The Gusty Garden Galaxy is a galaxy from the game Super Mario Galaxy that is located in the Bedroom. It features many grass and plant themed planetoids scattered throughout the galaxy. Many of them can only be reached by grabbing onto a Floaty Fluff and spinning to glide on gusts of wind from one planet to the next. The sky in the Gusty Garden Galaxy is perpetually swirling with a light gray foggy hue. The boss of this galaxy is a mole named Major Burrows.

The Freezeflame Galaxy is one of the five Bedroom galaxies in the game Super Mario Galaxy. It requires the use of both the Fire Flower and the Ice Flower to complete. Half of this galaxy consists of freezing water and ice, while the other half consists of fire and lava. Baron Brrr resides on the icy half of the galaxy and acts as the galaxy's boss.

The Dusty Dune Galaxy is a desert-themed galaxy in the Wii game Super Mario Galaxy. It is inhabited by many creatures, such as Pokeys, Cluckbooms, and Dry Bones, and has many obstacles, such as large seas of sands, floating sand structures, cacti planets and pyramid-styled planets.

The Honeyclimb Galaxy is a galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy. This galaxy is made up entirely out of Honeycomb Wall‎s, which contain groups of giant floating honeycombs. This is one of the three bee-themed galaxies, the other two being the Honeyhive Galaxy and the Gold Leaf Galaxy.

The Bigmouth Galaxy is a galaxy unlocked by feeding a Hungry Luma in Super Mario Galaxy. The galaxy consists of one large planet shaped like a fish with a wide open mouth that has stalagmites resembling teeth. The majority of the galaxy's sole mission takes place in a large body of water, which is accessed via the mouth. Gringills, Boos, and Jellyfish appear in the water.

Bowser's Dark Matter Plant (or Bowser's Dark Matter Reactor in the Prima Guide), is one of Bowser's galaxies in the game Super Mario Galaxy. This galaxy has two gravity-flipping areas, along with patches of Dark Matter which are deadly to touch.

The Gold Leaf Galaxy is a galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy. The galaxy greatly resembles, and is basically a mirror of, the Honeyhive Galaxy, with even the exact same music, though it has an autumn environment and some changes, such as the disappearance of a cave behind the waterfall and several more planets. Also, the watch tower is now an observatory and is found in another place. The file name for this galaxy is even called "ReverseKingdomGalaxy." Cataquacks can be found here.

The Sea Slide Galaxy is a galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy. This galaxy, similar to the Loopdeeloop Galaxy, has a band of water flowing through it. However, unlike the Loopdeeloop Galaxy, this galaxy's stretch of water is circular and without a current. This galaxy also has many islands and landmarks, such as a large tree and a lighthouse.

Toy Time Galaxy is a galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy, located in the Engine Room dome. It is a playroom-themed location filled with toys that are made out of rainbow building blocks, usually acting as platforms. Colorful trains appear as a short transportation. The Spring Mushroom and Mechakoopas also appear here. This galaxy is inhabited by Gearmos. The galaxy has areas that are food-based, and a planet that references Super Mario Bros.

The Bonefin Galaxy is a galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy. This galaxy, like the Drip Drop Galaxy, is basically a large body of water with a solid core. However, unlike the Drip Drop Galaxy, this galaxy has a large, spiky shell shielding most of it. This galaxy is home to Kingfin, a gigantic skeletal shark that Mario must defeat to earn a Power Star.

The Sand Spiral Galaxy is a galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy. This galaxy is a large barrel with a rapid sand river. This galaxy has many Boos and Swoops.

Bowser Jr.'s Lava Reactor is a Bowser Jr. galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy. This is where Mario battles King Kaliente for the second time and receives a Grand Star. The galaxy is an extremely large planet made out of lava with very few rocks.

Deep Dark Galaxy is a ghost-type galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy, like the Boo's Boneyard Galaxy and the Ghostly Galaxy. The main planet in it has a beach with many Toads and Crabs. There are very few planets aside from the big, main one. Guppy makes his second appearance here.

The Dreadnought Galaxy is a galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy. The galaxy is a mechanical and technological battle station. Topmaniac, the leader of the Topman Tribe, is fought here again. The galaxy reuses several elements from the Battlerock Galaxy, such as Cannons, Mines, and other battle operations, as well as music, but is based in and around a massive spaceship known as "The Dreadnought". The name "Dreadnought" comes from a real-life type of battleship.

The Melty Molten Galaxy is a galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy, and the last major galaxy to be unlocked in a dome. It is quite a large galaxy, made completely of lava and rock. It is situated between two stars, a red one and a light purple one. There are many Launch Stars here, allowing Mario to traverse the massive planet. There are also some small planetoids around it.

Matter Splatter Galaxy is a galaxy from Super Mario Galaxy. Matter Splatter is a primary stage element in this galaxy, and it consists of droplets of matter that act as disappearing and reappearing platforms Mario can land on; the Darkness Room Planet in the Ghostly Galaxy uses the same concept as this level, although it is much shorter. Magikoopas are the only enemies in this level which appear frequently. Space Fantasy is the music that plays throughout the entire level.

The Snow Cap Galaxy is a galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy, accessed via the Hungry Luma outside the Garden. It comprises two small planets. It is perpetually snowing on the main planet, depositing a white mat on the ground that slows Mario down considerably. However, the player can use the Star Cursor to push the snow apart, revealing anything hidden. The background of the stage features an aurora.

The Rolling Gizmo Galaxy is a galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy. It is one of the three Trial Galaxies. Like the Rolling Green Galaxy, this galaxy features the Star Ball. Unlike the Rolling Green Galaxy, which is rather plain and grassy, this galaxy has many gadgets, electronics, and is much more challenging.

The Bubble Blast Galaxy is a galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy. It is one of the three Trial Galaxies. This galaxy consists of a large maze made of electrical fences floating in space. This is similar to the Bubble Breeze Galaxy, but is more complicated due to the fact the barriers are replaced by electricity instead of rocks.

The Loopdeeswoop Galaxy is a galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy. It is one of the three Trial Galaxies. This galaxy is extremely similar to the Loopdeeloop Galaxy, though it is much more challenging and complicated due to the narrow water ways and the hard turns. It contains many 1-Up Mushrooms because of its difficulty. There are also spots with intense speed such as the loop and the steep dives.

The Grand Finale Galaxy is the final galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy. The level takes place in Castle Gardens (also called Toad Town in the guide by Prima Games) from the beginning of the game, with creatures from later parts of the game now attending the Star Festival, including Penguins, Bees, Gearmos, and Star Bunnies, the four major NPC types in the game.

Bowser's Galaxy Reactor is the final galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy. It is located in the center of the universe and can be accessed only by talking to Rosalina on the Comet Observatory. After the player talks to her, she will transform the observatory into a comet and fly it to the center of the universe, destroying some of Bowser's forces along the way.
