Mr. Mercedes by Stephen King is a Multiple Awards-Winning Car Crash
Stephen King is a name that comes loaded with too many expectations. As his first entry in hard-boiled fiction and his eleven-thousandth in his own pantheon of insurmountable literary beasts, Mr. Mercedes is a tale that is best digested if no comparison to his previous works is made.

Stephen King on the Academy Awards | EW.com
When you ask Google why the Academy Awards are called the Oscars, you get the Internet’s rarest answer: Who knows? Some people say Bette Davis is responsible; according to the story, she named her 1936 award (for playing an alcoholic actress in Dangerous) after her first husband, bandleader Harmon Oscar Nelson. The only trouble with this is that Walt Disney had reputedly referred to his statuette as Oscar two years earlier, when he won the award for best cartoon short.

A Literary Award For Stephen King - NYTimes.com
Under pressure from publishers to shake up its sleepy image, the organization that presents the National Book Awards is planning to give its annual medal for distinguished contribution to American letters to Stephen King. Mr. King's selection is the first time that the organization, the National Book Foundation, has awarded its medal to an author best known for writing in popular genres like horror stories, science fiction or thrillers. Very little of Mr. King's work would qualify as literary fiction.
