Definetly one of the best, I had to try very hard not to cry when Susan died. Roland's vast display of emotions throughout this book was a wee-bit surprising but it shows us a different, more human side of him.

Review of Stephen King's Wizard and Glass
King does well to focus on Roland's past. Roland was never completely unsympathetic, but he was always a hard, ruthless man, a killer in the name of his cause. But he is fighting insidious forces of entropy -- "The world has moved on" is a common phrase in the series -- and the Dark Tower is ever elusive.

As far as the people of Mejis know, these youths were in fact truant youngsters who were sent on a mission to count. That's right, count everything from fish nets to horses. In reality, they are sent there to get them out of harm's way, but what they find instead is a group not dissimilar to The Cowboys from the movie Tombstone named the Big Coffin Hunters.
