Roedde House Museum - Lonely Planet
For a glimpse of what the West End looked like before the apartment blocks arrived, drop by this handsome 1893 Queen Anne–style mansion, now a lovingly preserved museum. Designed by infamous British Columbia architect Francis Rattenbury, the house is packed with antiques and the garden is planted in period style.

Roedde House Museum - Racan Souiedan
From February to August 2015 I served as Visiting Curator at Roedde House Museum in Vancouver's historic West End neighbourhood. My exhibition, Souvenirs of Howe Sound: A History of Local Tourism, situated the Roedde family in the context of British Columbia's burgeoning tourism industry in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

Roedde House Museum - Tourism Vancouver
About: The Roedde House Museum is the city’s only heritage house museum, and introduces you to the life of an immigrant family in Vancouver at the turn of the twentieth century. Designed by the famed Francis Rattenbury in 1893 (Provincial Legislature Buildings, Empress Hotel, original Vancouver Courthouse) who was a close friend of the Roedde family, this fully-restored Victorian home operates year round, allowing guests to come and discover the original architecture and artefacts dating back to the late 1800’s. Gustav Roedde came to Vancouver from Germany, after a long journey across North America, with his family in tow to set up the first book-binding and printing shop in the lower mainland. “Take it to the Roedde’s” became a hallmark statement for residents and businesses across town, anytime printing or binding needed to be done. Tours: For seasonal hours, please call (604).684.7040, or check online at www.roeddehouse.org Every Sunday, year round, from 1:00pm to 4:00 pm we host our tea and tour special where we invite guests to come to the house for a guided tour and then enjoy tea and cookies in our parlour for a lovely and relaxing afternoon. Concerts: Twice a month, the Roedde House parlour is transformed into a concert hall. Join us on the second Sunday afternoon of every month at 3pm for a classical music concert, or on the second Thursday evening of every month at 7pm for a jazz concert. Tickets are $12 for students / seniors and $15 for adults (available through brownpapertickets.com). Included in the price of your ticket is a cup of tea and a tour of the house. See our website for our full concert calendar. This unique concert experience in an intimate historic setting is not to be missed. Rentals: Private rentals of the house are available for weddings, receptions, parties, meetings, photo shoots, and films. The main floor of the house is available to guests and can comfortably seat 35, or accommodate 45-50 people while standing and mingling. We have full wheelchair accessibility around the main floor, and a working kitchen for catering. As an intimate and unique location for any sort of event, we are always happy to work with guests to suit their needs. Contact our office or fill out the rental application on our website for rates, availability and further details.
