Founded in 1960, the National Gandhi Museum is managed by the Gandhi Smarak Sangrahalaya Samiti. The purpose of the museum is to create awareness for the work and life of Mahatma Gandhi, India’s Father of the Nation.

Besides public galleries, the Museum has a collection of relics, books, journals and documents, photographs, audio-visual materials, exhibitions, art pieces and other memorabilia closely connected with Mahatma Gandhi. It is also developing into a centre for the availability of Gandhian and allied literature, and for select publications, studies and information on Mahatma Gandhi, his associates and the freedom struggle.

The National Gandhi Museum has a very rich collection of original relics, books, journals and documents, photographs, audio-visual materials, exhibitions, art pieces and other memorabilia closely connected with Mahatma Gandhi, Kastur Ba and Indian Freedom Struggle. It is developing into a Resource Centre for the Gandhian and allied Studies and Research.
