Billy Hargrove is a main character and a secondary antagonist in the second season and the main antagonist of the third season of Stranger Things. Billy is the son of Neil Hargrove and an unnamed mother in California. His father was physically abusive to him and his mother.

Dr. Martin Brenner is a major character and antagonist in the first season of Stranger Things. He is portrayed by Matthew Modine. Brenner was a senior research scientist and the director of Hawkins National Laboratory.

Steve Harrington is a recurring character in the first season and a main character in the second and third season of Stranger Things. He is portrayed by starring cast member Joe Keery. A student at Hawkins High School, he was friends with Tommy H. and Carol and the boyfriend of Nancy Wheeler.

Lucas Sinclair, portrayed by Caleb McLaughlin, is a major protagonist in the first two seasons of Stranger Things. He is one of the best friends of Mike Wheeler, Dustin Henderson and Will Byers and Eleven.

James "Jim" Hopper, portrayed by David Harbour, is a major character in the first, second, and third seasons of Stranger Things. Hopper was Chief of Police in the small, sleepy town of Hawkins, Indiana, where he used to live out a carefree existence - yet haunted by a troubled past.

Michael Wheeler is the overall main protagonist of Stranger Things. He is portrayed by Finn Wolfhard, who also portrayed young Richie Tozier in It: Chapter One and It: Chapter Two.

Joyce Byers, portrayed by Winona Ryder, is a major character in the first, second, and third seasons of Stranger Things. The financially poor single mother of Will and Jonathan Byers, Joyce works as a retail clerk and relies on help from her eldest to make ends meet.
