'Instinct' by T.D. Jakes
Doesn’t it seem like every public figure is writing a book these days? From Arianna Huffington to LaLa Anthony to T.D. Jakes to Steve Harvey. It’s hard to know which ones are strictly publicity stunts and which ones are truly worth your time and money.

lessons in entrepreneurship from haiti #bloggers4haiti
Time flies when you’re dealing with work, snow days and wifi outages. I can’t believe it’s been over a month since I traveled to Haiti with #bloggers4haiti to visit the artisans involved in the Macy’s Heart of Haiti initiative. There’s just so much to share that it’s hard to decide where to start, so I thought I’d begin with some of the lessons in entrepreneurship that stood out to me during my time there.

One Lovely Blog Award (and 2 lovely ladies)
This past November was the first year that we had a Junior Social Squad at Blogalicious Weekend. The idea wasn’t even on our radar until we received a submission from Elisha and Elyssa at WhollyART who plead their case and impressed our Team and made us figure out a way to have these ladies participate.

announcing life is the party :: #booksies ~ an unconventional book club
Tell the truth! Is your nightstand (or Amazon shopping cart) overflowing with books that you’re dying to read "when you find the time"? It took an ultimatum from my husband to clear off the avalanche of books on my nightstand that have been accumulating for about 2 years before I actually decided to go through them and create a "To Read" bag (everything else was donated).

5 Days to More Revenue, Impact & Purpose Telesummit: 1/19 - 1/23
I’m declaring 2015 the year for clarity and expansion in my entrepreneur community. As I’ve grown my own purposeful business and platform I understand how imperative creating new habits and implementing new strategies are to my business. I’ve teamed up with my sister in success, Aprille Franks-Hunt in her 5 Day Revenue, Impact & Purpose TeleSummit that starts on Monday (1/19).

The 3 Kinds of People You Need for Your Business
Earlier this year, I went to my second SXSW Interactive in Austin, TX. I was looking forward to attending sessions because last year, I was so overwhelmed by the entire experience that I ended up just hanging out at various social events and "networking" (i.e. drinking cocktails mid-day in the FastCompany Grill).

On Kim K’s ‘Paper Magazine’ Cover: The Photo Isn’t the Problem; Putting It On Instagram Was
Ask any of my friends: I’ve been ride or die for Kim Kardashian for years. Yes, her materialistic lifestyle invites criticism. Yes, she’s famous for being famous. But really, I’ve respected her hustle of taking her infamy and turning it into a multi-million dollar empire. If you take a look at celebrity in the U.S., many other have done much worse with much more (or less).

Talking Shop w. @PaulCBrunson @EvieRobbie and @ArchbyCCB on #MentorMonday
Last night I had the privilege of appearing on Paul Carrick Brunson‘s #MentorMonday chat as one of the guests to discuss the topic of entrepreneurship. Now I’ve been on countless web shows and interviews and I can honestly say that last night’s was one of THE most fun and most useful. I also had the pleasure of getting to know my co-panelists Evita Robinson and Chris Burns and learned a thing or two from the brilliant businesses that they’ve created.

SMART IDEA: Unstuck App
My friend and right-hand woman, Jazzy, was at the TechsyTalk conference in NYC the other day and sent me a note about an app that they mentioned in one of the sessions; it’s called Unstuck and, after playing around with it for 11 seconds, I’ve decided that it’s brilliant. I’m a ‘fixer’ and a problem-solver by nature but even I need help sorting through things more often than I care to admit.

Every Light Has a Shadow
This morning I was having a conversation with someone about our individual gifts. She identified one of mine as being ‘high-achieving.’ As soon as she said that, I sighed and rolled my eyes because I’ve come to resent that part of myself as of late. It seems to be the thing responsible for at least 80% of my life stressors and yet, as one friend put it in a text message to me recently: "It comes with the territory."

{Sponsored} I Have My #BestTeacherEver to Thank for My Blogging Career
You know how you can trace certain happenings in your life back to specific events in time? The more I think about it, the more I’m sure that I can pinpoint the pivotal time period in my life that was the deciding factor between me taking Path A or Path B. It was circa 1999 and I was a first-year student at the Howard University School of Law.

Cavemen Obviously Didn’t Eat In Airports
About 2 months ago I really dove into the Paleo (aka Cavemen) style of eating. It made sense to (and for) me because it’s common knowledge that refined flour-based carbs, wheat gluten, and sugar are not conducive to weight loss or a healthy body.

Three Questions Oprah Asks Herself Everyday
I was reading a magazine on the plane the other day (don’t ask me what magazine or where I was going – I’ve been traveling so much these past few weeks that I don’t know whether I’m coming or going these days), and there was a piece on Oprah and the three questions that she asks herself everyday:Am I on track?Am I in balance?Am I in flow?
