Under the grey, overcast skies, Bellandur lake continued to froth heavily on Saturday, spewing white clouds in the air.And walking through the frothy road next to the lake, were at least a dozen people, all "local tourists" who wanted to experience the foam first-hand. Armed with cameras, they used the bandh holiday to travel from different parts of the city to see Bengaluru’s most infamous lake.

Bellandur lake, Bangalore, desperately seeking revival - Citizen Matters
I would not mind starting with a clichéd phrase for Bangalore - the city of lakes and tanks. But these days this lake city is making news because its lakes are drying up. Some because of waste dumping, some because of encroachments. One of these unfortunate lakes in Bangalore is Bellandur Lake, one of the oldest with 130 years of history and the main water provider for the city.

Bellandur Lake - Wikipedia
Bellandur Lake is a lake in the suburb of Bellandur in the southeast of the city of Bangalore and is the largest lake in the city. It is a part of Bellandur drainage system that drains the southern and the southeastern parts of the city. The lake is a receptor from three chains of lakes upstream, and has a catchment area of about 148 square kilometres (37,000 acres). Water from this lake flows further east to the Varthur Lake, from where it flows down the plateau and eventually into the Pinakani river basin.[1] It is currently highly polluted with sewage, and in May 2015 the foam covering the water surface caught fire and burned for hours.
