Aarakshan Review - Koimoi
Aarakshan review by Komal Nahta Biz rating: 2/5 stars. What’s Good: Amitabh Bachchan’s sterling performance; turns and twists in the drama; the novel subject . What’s Bad: The length of the film, making it boring in parts; the sermonising effect of the drama at places; the extra importance given to commercialisation of education in the second half so that the reservation issue gets relegated to the background, comparatively speaking.

Aarakshan (2011) - Rotten Tomatoes
Aarakshan is the story of Prabhakar Anand (Amitabh Bachchan), the legendary idealistic principal of a college that he has single-handedly turned into the state's best. It is the story of his loyal disciple, Deepak Kumar (Saif Ali Khan) who will do anything for his Sir. Of Deepak's love for Prabhakar's daughter, Poorbi (Deepika Padukone), of his friendship with Sushant (Prateik). It is the story of their love, their lively friendship, their zest for life, and of their dreams for the future. Centered on one of the most controversial issues of recent years, with the Supreme Court's order on reservation, the story suddenly becomes a rollercoaster ride of high drama, conflict, and rebellion, which tests their love and friendship for one another, and their loyalty to Prabhakar Anand. -- (C) Reliance Big Pictures

Review: Aarakshan - NDTV Movies
An angry exchange of words erupts between newly appointed junior lecturer Deepak Kumar (Saif Ali Khan) and his mentor and college Principal Dr Prabhakar Anand (Amitabh Bachchan). The former hurls a pointed question at his senior: ?What is your position on reservation?? The latter responds in kind but refuses to answer. That?s perfectly in keeping with the underlying spirit of Aarakshan. Words, words, and more words? but no clear pronouncements! So don?t expect any answers from Aarakshan.

Aarakshan: Movie Review - Times of India
Aarakshan touches its core theme of reservation only in its first half and that too only partially and peripherally. The second half seems to narrate an altogether unconnected story.
