The Hochschule Furtwangen University (HFU), formerly the Fachhochschule Furtwangen (FHF), is a German University of applied science in Furtwangen im Schwarzwald, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The university dates back to a school for clock making founded in 1850 by Robert Gerwig. After World War II, the school was split into two branches, one for engineering, the other for job training. The first one became a Fachhochschule when this new kind of universities was introduced in the early 1970s.
