History, mission and values
Although there had been a Studium Generale approved by King Sancho IV in Alcalá since 1293, the University of Alcalá was founded in 1499 as a completely new educational project by Cardinal Cisneros, the Regent of Spain.

Admission and Registration of International Students
International Students can apply for admission to degree courses if they meet any of the following requirements:
International students who have completed higher secondary education in another country can take degree courses at the UAH if they pass the Spanish University Entrance Examination with the minimum grade required for access to the degree course they wish to take. See University Access Tests for more information.

Undergraduate degrees
(Bilingual Option) We offer you the opportunity to study at least half of the credits of your study plan in English. Once the course in English has started you will have a deadline to change to the group in Spanish if you wish.

The University of Alcalá (Spanish: Universidad de Alcalá) is a public university located in Alcalá de Henares, a city 35 km (22 miles) northeast of Madrid in Spain and also the third-largest city of the region. It was founded in 1293 as a General Studio[2][3] for the public, and was refounded in 1977. The University of Alcalá is especially renowned in the Spanish-speaking world for its annual presentation of the highly prestigious Cervantes Prize. The University currently enrolls 28,336 students, 17,252 of whom are studying undergraduate degrees which are taught by a teaching staff of 2,608 professors, lecturers and researchers belonging to 24 departments. The University is also proud of its modern and efficient administration, which is carried out by the Administration and Services, comprising approximately 800 people.[4]
