How long after half-marathon could I run my first marathon? | dailymile
How long after half-marathon could I run my first marathon? I am currently training for my first half (using Hal Higdon's Novice 2 training plan). Assuming all goes as planned, I'm on track to run it on June 2. Looking ahead to the fall, there's a marathon I'd like to run on September 29, 17 weeks out from the half-marathon. Would it be reasonable to complete the half on June 2, run easy for a wk or so after, and then jump into training for the full starting at week 2 or 3 of a full marathon training plan? (it would be my first marathon) I have been prone to injury in the past (achilles tendinosis, metatarsal SF, PF) so I don't want to take on so much that I set myself up for injury. I've been running for a year since finishing my last round of PT. 4 days/wk at 15-18 miles/wk. Have done 5K and 10K races. FWIW, I'm still building my mileage. By the end of next month, I'll be at ~25 miles/wk. Thx for the responses! I can't seem to respond except by editing my question. I really appreciate the input. :).
