I first searched for a vintage beveled mirror but got a little sticker shock at some of the prices (and boy are they hard to find!). I was at Anthro and saw some hanging mirrors and liked that idea. Something round would definitely have to do though. I settled on an Ikea mirror but it was too boring by itself. I added a little rope to mimic those rope hanging mirrors that are all over Pinterest (and apparently are mostly DIY's so this post is not original although I honestly had not seen a tutorial yet until I searched just now- oops!).
This past weekend my project was framing this super cheap IKEA mirror. This mirror cost $10 at ikea, and the wood cost $10 at home depot. Making this beautiful frame cost a total of $30 with stain and liquid nails.
Okay so lately I've been a little rustic country crazy! I went to Tennessee for a little family vacation and came back desiring nothing but rustic decor. As we all know its the in design right now and because of that it is also super expensive!!!! A little too rich for my blood to do a complete living room remodel along with my kitchen (which I will be posting soon!) The country vintage style mirrors range retail between $200-$300 :-O!
When I planned my son's nursery I had only one item on my wish list, Restoration Hardware's Iron & Rope Mirror. The problem? It cost more than I budgeted for the entire room. However, with a quick trip to the hardware store and another one to the Swedish retail giant, I was in business.
