A.J. Natter

Junior defensive end A.J. Natter enters the 2016 season looking to compete for playing time at defensive end. Nebraska lost four starters from the 2015 defensive line, including ends Jack Gangwish and Greg McMullen, leaving the opportunity for playing time wide open. Natter had a strong spring, putting him in good position for playing time heading into fall camp. The 6-5, 260-pound Natter has ideal size and strength for a defensive end. He has been limited by injuries in the first half of his Husker career, but is hopeful for a healthy 2016 campaign.

Natter was recruited from Milton (Milton, WI) class of 2013. He committed to Nebraska on 4/16/2012. He was recruited by John Papuchis , Barney Cotton .

The skinny: Natter lives only about 35 minutes from one of Nebraska’s new main rivals -- the Wisconsin Badgers -- but the defensive end said he just knew during his visit to Lincoln this spring that this was the spot for him. The Huskers were after Natter early on in the process, becoming the first school to offer him a scholarship. It was something Natter didn’t forget when it came time to make his commitment. Rivals.com ranked him as the third best recruit in the state of Wisconsin and 247Sports’ composite rankings had him No. 1. Despite having offers from five other Big Ten schools, Natter never wavered on his commitment to the Huskers despite doing it 10 months before signing day.
