Edward Norton interview: Fight Club actor talks Bruce Springsteen relationship advice, American History X, socialism and President Obama | The Independent
A few years ago Edward Norton was sitting on a stoop in New York listening to Bruce Springsteen. Actually listening to Bruce Springsteen: the singer was sitting on the step next to Norton giving the actor some relationship advice. At the time Norton had already established himself as one of the world’s leading actors, following up his Oscar-nominated debut in Primal Fear with turns in American History X and The People vs. Larry Flynt, and one of the all-time great performances in Fight Club.

Edward Norton on CrowdRise
I just have to say: CrowdRise kicks ass. It makes raising money for my causes ridiculously easy. If you don't have a page of your own set up...do it now. That's my free advice.
I sponsor and support a number of different efforts that I admire in conservation, community development, global health and the arts. I'm on the Board of all the organizations I've listed here and I'm hugely inspired by the work each is doing. Apart from my day job, these groups and the people involved in them are among the most fun and rewarding experiences I've had in my life.
Right now my top two priorities that I'd love you to check out? Here they are:
#1 - New York's Signature Theater Company is the only theater in the country that devotes an entire season each year to the work of one living American playwright. I got my first professional acting job with Signature and in its nineteen years this theater has been repeatedly recognized as one of the most important and outstanding theaters in America. We're now building an incredible new complex of three theaters on 42nd St, designed by Frank Gehry. I joined the campaign of all the artist alumni trying to come together to raise a big chunk. I'm asking for just $100 from any friend who loves the theater to help us build a great one.
#2 - The Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust is a fantastic community conservation effort working the Maasai people of Kenya to preserve their ecosystem and create sustainable benefits for local people. You can read about it when you click on my Project below. I'm trying really hard to raise some support for next year's operation through this Holiday campaign run by Mozilla. If I raise enough I can win $25,000 extra for MWCT.
Other cool projects I'm working on are below too.
The Harlem Success Garden is just crazy inspiring. Read the story of this guy. I'm backing his effort as much as I can.
The National Conservation Lands Foundation was started by my father and other great conservation leaders to preserve some of America's most treasured natural and historic places.
Check em out.
thanks..
