Neerja is a 2016 Indian Hindi-language biographical thriller film directed by Ram Madhvani and written by Saiwyn Quadras and Sanyuktha Chawla Shaikh.

Directed by Ram Madhvani. With Sonam Kapoor, Shabana Azmi, Yogendra Tikku, Abrar Zahoor. Neerja is the story of the courageous Neerja Bhanot, who sacrificed her life while protecting the lives of 359 passengers on the Pan Am flight 73 in 1986. The flight was hijacked by a terrorist organization.

With Neerja's biopic set to hit the screens on Friday, TOI spoke to two citizens of Bengaluru - Dr Murthy, then 31, who was in the flight and his wife Dr Veena Bharathi, who has worked closely without Neerja's family to document her life.
