DIY Mini Gift Box (from a Toothpaste Container!)
Need a cute way to gift some homemade truffles or jewelry? This DIY mini gift box takes about five minutes to make. Best of all, it’s a fun upcycle craft that can help teach kids how to make use of what they have on-hand.

Wizard of Oz House Costume
Why be Dorothy or the Tin Man when you can be the house that fell on the Wicked Witch of the East? I made this with some foam board, Krazy glue and a bunch of stuff that was laying around the house. Altogether, it cost less than $20!

Homemade Cloth Baby Wipes
Shortly after we started using cloth diapers, we realized it makes sense to use homemade cloth baby wipes as well. Cloth wipes cost less, help the environment and let us avoid the whole disposable-wipe-in-the-dryer debacle. As much as we tried to always put the disposable wipes in the waste basket and toss the diapers in a separate container, the wipes occasionally got mixed in with the diapers. They get into the washing process, disintegrate and stick to the diapers and trust me, it’s not fun to pick tiny flecks of disposable cotton off your baby’s bum. Homemade cloth baby wipes can go right into the wash with the diapers to avoid that issue entirely.

How to Make a Crib Bumper
I’ve gone back and forth about putting a crib bumper in our baby’s crib. I know a lot of parents who swear by them and claim that they keep their baby from bumping its head on the hard wood of the crib or sticking arms and legs between the slats. Experts say that if the crib bumper is too thick, babies can get pressed up against it and have difficulty breathing, increasing the risk of SIDS. Bumpers left on too long can end up serving as a hoisting agent for toddlers anxious to climb out of bed.

DIY Baby Mobile Cover
After I posted our nursery reveal, I had a few people ask me about Some Boy’s baby mobile and homemade baby mobile cover. The baby mobile we bought came bare, with uncovered plastic pieces holding the mobile decorations.

Chicken Wire Frame
Nate has an entire room of our home dedicated to craftsmanship. I’ve asked why he needs SO many tools, and his answer actually makes a lot of sense. "Why do you need two glue guns for your crafts?" he volleys it back to me. Duh…so I can glue parts of the same project at varying temperatures. Over the years I’ve actually come to rely on his dedicated workspace. I’ve drawn inspiration from his tools for my own crafts, like this chicken wire frame.

Sugar Scrub Recipe with Apple (Semi-DIY)
I’ve been making this sugar scrub recipe since I was in junior high school, back when we made things at home out of necessity and not just because it was trendy.

DIY Terrarium: Pottery Barn Knockoff
I’ve been lusting after this Pottery Barn terrarium for awhile now. I love the idea of enclosing potted herbs, cacti or pine cones in a small display on an unexpected space like a corner table or dining hutch. The price, however, I’m not loving. $129 for the small one, $249 for the large…yikes.

The Crafting of a Box Tops Box
It would seem that we are embracing this whole kindergarten thing head-on. Because I have SO much time on my hands what with being almost 8 months pregnant and all, I volunteered our family to make the Box Tops box for collection in our classroom!

DIY Minion Costume (and Gru, too!)
Yesterday we made our annual trek to the pumpkin patch, decked out in the boys’ chosen Halloween outfits. I was feeling short on time but too low on patience for pricey store-bought stuff that inevitably breaks halfway through the night, so I busted out some DIY Minion costumes in about an hour flat.
