Tommylog – Talking Politics with Emma & Drew
Hey kids it’s Dad, and for today’s TommyLog I’m joined by Emma and Drew. Today we talk about politics. Not politics like you see in the news, debates or on social media, but politics through the eyes of children. Children don’t get emotional about these types of topics. Politics simply brings out the worst in people.

TommyLog – Emma Had a Down Day
Emma this week had a down day. In her first grade room they have a traffic light system for tracking behavior. Each day they start on green, ready to learn. If they’re exceptional it goes up to blue. If they’re having a rough day it goes to Orange, and if it gets worse than that it goes to red which means I have to talk to parents.

TommyLog – Leaving Your Comfort Zone!
Think about bettering yourself..or pushing yourself out of your comfort zone. Many people just can’t do it. They are complacent to just do the same thing day in and day out. A great example is Emma who wanted to perform for the church talent show. Here she is 6 years old, never performed in front of anyone ever…yet she wanted to do a number from the Disney movie Frozen.

TommyLog – Star of the Week
This week Emma was “Star of the Week” in class which means a parent gets to read to her. Mom had to work so Dad wins WOOT!!! What a GREAT experience it was to be able to go to her class and see all the smiling faces there. I read Pinkalicious Play Date and it was AWESOME!! I could not help but think of the kids in Connecticut that lost their lives just a few hours earlier to the hands of some really evil man. It just brook my heart to know what I have and know what they lost. I’m at such a loss to understand.

TommyLog – That’s Not My Style
How many times do you hear that someone “hates this” or “dislikes that” and it doesn’t come off in the nicest tone? This week dear Emma came home to tell me that she had dinner at Sarah’s. I knew they were having fish and knew she might not like that. Instead of saying she hated it or really disliked it, she said “Dad, that fish was not my style!” How awesome is that? I love the tone that she took.

TommyLog – 2 new Bikes
So Emma and Drew each got bikes with training wheels on them this weekend. Not new new..but new to them and they could not be happier. These are Clara and Tommy’s old bikes…but who cares. I put on the training wheels and a bell on Emma’s and she was off to the races. Drew does not ride his, he just leads it around by the handle bars. Emma calls her bike bullseye and her name is Jessie… ala Toy Story.
