Hey Kids it’s Dad, and for today’s TommyLog I want to talk about the 2016 election. Talking politics tears families apart, tears friends apart, and does absolutely no good. Social media has become a minefield. It is just horrible what is happening!!

Hey Kids it’s Tommy, and for today’s TommyLog i’m joined by my great buddy Drew. Drew has had a fever so today he stayed home. Today we had a civics lesson. Drew got to go vote with his Dad. So on this election day Drew and I talk about the voting process and get the take of a 7 year old.

Hey kids it’s Dad, and for today’s TommyLog I’m joined by Emma and Drew. Today we talk about politics. Not politics like you see in the news, debates or on social media, but politics through the eyes of children. Children don’t get emotional about these types of topics. Politics simply brings out the worst in people.

This week was the midterm elections or as I like to call it Political Superbowl and I’m so fascinated with the process. I love watching the political exit polls and returns on election eve. On thing I noticed is people who are not gracious losers during their concession speech. Win or lose, be gracious in all you do!

Tommy talks about your right and duty to vote. Elections only happen once a year. its time to speak up and be heard.

Kids, what an exciting time it was to be in Wisconsin. The election is all people have been able to talk about since Gov Walker took office. Right, wrong he has got people attention and the recall election was the culmination of that attention. I’m not much for political ads of robo-calls, but watching the process and the passionate people on both sides tackle the issues… AMAZING!

Do you dive into political conversations on social media? Or do you stay far away? Tommy and Lisa talk about politics in the social media sphere.

Today I’m talking about the occupy movement and the end game. What is the point of all this noise. Certainly they are protesting for a cause, but what cause? What problem do they want to solve and what is the end game here? Kill all big business? There seems to be so many voices and so many messages, I’m finding it hard to hear the true message through all the white noise.

Well the people have spoken and I think there was a clear message. People are not happy with whats going on. Right or wrong, people are really not pleased. Wisconsin has a new Governor, new representatives in the House and Senate and a new tone has been set. Its such a divisive topic and speaking to friends about politics is not something I feel comfortable doing. It never ends well.
