Three Angels Brewing

Grow local, Brew local, Drink local. Great beers should be distributed on the backs of their followers, not on the trucks of distributors. Three Angels Brewing is a nano scale operation, focusing on the production and development of brews utilizing predominantly locally grown inputs. Economics is an after thought, Quality is a requirement, and Excellence is determined and awarded by consumers, not judges.

From Three Angels Official Brewmaster Jason Leslie: “Born the son of a depression era child, “waste not want not” is at the core of my being. Today, unlike the pioneer years of craft in the early 1980’s, anyone can go out and buy a “micro” or “nano” brewhouse. There is an entire industry dedicated to exploiting the dream of aspiring brewers. Simply call up, place your order, and wait in line with all of the other aspiring brewers. In my entire 17 years as a “home-brewer” I refused to pay money for the gimicry offered up in every local brew store or brew “rag” publication. New Belgium didn’t place an order for their system in the early 80’s. They searched the grounds of local defunct dairies which had been gobbled up or closed down by the newly emerging billion dollar dairy conglomerates. So would we!”

Three unlikely characters, with an unlikely motive, joined together in one seem-less journey, a common pursuit of all things great. As children we all dreamed of being spectacular, super heroes in charge of bringing peace and justice to the world. As young adults we’re trained to give up foolish pursuits, put our dreams aside and become respectable citizens serving the common good. When you reach the end of the road that is paved before you, you can either sit and wait patiently for the world and those around you to finish the second act of your life or you can pick up your paint-brush, gather the colors around you and construct your own. We are of the latter. We are the Rogue Barrister, Dr. Zarconigus and the hatter. Forget about trying to make sense of what your about to see and just accept that making sense is relative. Making “Greatness” is what matters and that’s all that we are trying to do.

From Official Brewmaster Jason Leslie aka Dr. Zarconigus: “When our first choice for the brewery was denied by the IDPH (Illinois Department of Public Health) most people would have quit there. Honestly, it was tempting. This is where the hatter (Pat Harbour )stepped in. Pat , a good friend and mentor ( not to mention a World class contractor), stepped up and said “hey boys, why don’t you come down on the farm and do your thing.” He said we could build the brewery in his circa 1850’s barn. This thing was rougher than a cob, pun intended. I mean it was structurally sound and all, but it was a barn from the 1850’s for God’s sake.
