Hank is Wiser Brewery is a small family owned and operated brewpub located in the middle of downtown Cheney, Kansas. The first house brewed beer was served on April 1, 2005 at their grand opening, just mere hours after Hank Sanford retired from a 22 year sales career in Wichita. It was 35 years earlier that Hank had purchased his first beer sign. Collecting brewery advertising, visiting over 400 breweries across the country, homebrewing for the last 15 years, and of course tasting well over 5000 different beers all lead to the dream and finally the reality of opening Hank is Wiser Brewery.
These are just a few of the beers from our connoisseurs menu. All these beers were hand picked by the owner and brewer themselves. Most of these bottles are limited releases and have been cellaring (some up to 7 years). Come see us and make sure to ask what we have in our connoisseur cooler.
HANK IS WISER BREWERY IS HOUSED IN A HISTORIC BUILDING IN DOWNTOWN CHENEY, KANSAS. BUILT IN 1898, THE COLLINS & JOSLYN BUILDING WAS THE FIRST TWO STORY BUILDING IN CHENEY. IT WAS CONSTRUCTED OF BRICK, IRON, AND STONE AT A COST OF $8,000.00. THE BUILDING ORIGINALLY HOUSED CHENEY DRUG COMPANY AND A GENERAL STORE, AND ON THE SECOND FLOOR WERE DOCTOR OFFICES AND A MASONIC LODGE.
