Many of you have asked, and surely the rest of you have wondered who is “Martha”? It all began 80 years ago when a first generation immigrant from Greece, the great aunt of Bill and Chris Fokas, made her way to Nashua. In 1932 she founded the original Martha’s Sweet Shoppe. It is believed that she named it after the popular candy of that era known as “Martha Washington Candy”. It was not because her name was Martha. The original store was only 1/10 of the size of the existing Martha’s.

Martha’s Exchange began brewing operations in September of 1993 making it the second oldest brewpub in the state. For over twenty years, we have had fresh beer crafted onsite and served mere feet from where it was made. Current brewer Greg Ouellette has been with us since 2001. He brews an ever changing array of beers from the lightest easy drinking brew to the darkest richest stout. We rotate our beer line up constantly so there is always something fresh for everyone and something new on the horizon. Greg brews upwards of 30 different recipes in a calendar year, many are seasonal brews only made once a year, others are rolled out a few times a year, and some are brand new special brews that Greg makes once and may never make again. He has brewed many award winning beers and he continues to search for new flavors and styles for our customers to enjoy.
